What is Plastic Injection Mold Tooling?
Plastic injection mold tooling refers to the process of designing and manufacturing the tools, or molds, used in plastic injection molding. These molds are precision-engineered tools that shape molten plastic into the desired form, creating a wide range of plastic parts.
Features of Plastic Injection Mold Tooling
Cavity and Core
The mold consists of two halves, namely the cavity and core. These two parts define the shape and size of the final product. The molten plastic material is injected into the cavity, which is separated from the core during the ejection process.
Gating System

Surface Finish
The surface finish of the mold cavity is crucial for achieving a smooth and defect-free final product. The mold surface is often polished or textured to achieve the desired finish on the molded part.
Mold Inserts and Slides
Mold inserts and slides are used when the part design requires features that cannot be achieved with a simple cavity and core. These additional components allow for more complex part geometries, such as undercuts or threads.
