Plastic Waste Bin Mould
What is plastic injection molding?
Plastic waste bin mould is a device used to manufacture plastic trash cans. It manufactures plastic trash cans through processing methods such as injection molding, extrusion or compression molding, aiming to produce trash cans of consistent size and shape. During its production, operators inject molten plastic into a mold, let it cool and solidify, and then remove the finished product from the mold. This method facilitates the rapid production of large quantities of bins and is widely used by waste management companies, municipalities and the plastics industry.
Such injection molding tools usually have a hollow structure and are often made of alloys to make them resistant to high temperatures and corrosion. But one could also replace it with low-volume 3D printed resin tools to reduce costs.
The workflow of Plastic waste bin mould
① Product design:
First of all, product design and mold design need to be carried out to determine the size and shape of the product, as well as the structure and materials of the mold, etc.
② Mold debugging:
After completing the mold production, debugging and testing are required to check whether the quality and size of the mold meet the requirements.
③ Plastic binder dissolution:
Pour the appropriate proportion of plastic particles and binder into the melting machine, heat and dissolve to obtain a melt.
④ Injection molding:
Inject the melt into the mold and perform high-pressure injection molding, so that the plastic is formed in the mold and cooled to solidify.
⑤ Disassembly and cleaning:
After the molding is completed, the mold needs to be removed, the finished product needs to be taken out of the mold, and cleaned and surface treated.
The main raw materials used in Plastic waste bin mould
① ABS
ABS, also known as acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, is an opaque thermoplastic that is tough, resistant to physical impact and chemical attack. It is often used in injection molded trash can lids because it is a good insulator, is not flammable in case of fire, and does not emit smoke.
② PA
PA refers to polyamide (or nylon), an engineering thermoplastic with high temperature resistance, electrical resistance and excellent chemical resistance. It is often used to make strong mechanical parts such as the bottom rollers of trash cans, helping to reduce weight and production costs.
③ POM
The full name of POM is acetal (chemical name is polyoxymethylene), which is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic. It has high dimensional stability and strength and is often used as an engineering material, extruded into plates, rods and pipes. In addition, due to its low friction coefficient, it is also used to make plastic gears, bearings and other parts of trash cans, and has high resistance to chemicals and gasoline solvents.
④ PP
Polypropylene (PP) is a tough, crystalline thermoplastic made from the monomer propylene (or propylene) and is the lightest polymer of all commercial plastics. It has low density, high heat resistance, and can maintain mechanical and electrical properties at high temperatures. It is a waterproof plastic, often used as the body part of plastic trash cans, which maintains a long service life when used outdoors and is easier to popularize.
⑤ PVC
PVC, also known as polyvinyl chloride (or vinyl), is a white thermoplastic brittle solid. It is insoluble in all solvents but swells in monomers and certain chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents. PVC comes in rigid (sometimes abbreviated to RPVC) and flexible forms. It ensures a beautiful and elegant shape and a solid appearance when making injection molded trash cans, which can increase the cleanliness of the environment.
⑥ HDPE
High-density polyethylene (HDPE) is a thermoplastic polymer made from petroleum and has high tensile strength and high strength and density. It has a very high melting point and remains rigid at very high temperatures. In addition, the material can be quickly formed after melting, making it easy to make trash cans of various shapes and capacities, and is easy to recycle after long-term use. It can reduce plastic production by up to 50% and ensure environmental protection.
Difference between plastic injection molding and other methods
① Extrusion molding
Hot melt plastic is extruded through a forming hole, using the shape of the mold to create long plastic parts, including straws or PVC pipes.
Advantages:
(1) This method supports high-volume production and the continuous production of products of the same shape.
(2) Its cost is lower and productivity is higher.
Disadvantage:
Part variety will be limited in shape.
② Compression molding
Liquid plastic raw material is poured into heated molds, then compressed and cooled into the desired shape. This method is often used to make spare parts for damaged metal parts.
Advantages:
Suitable for mass production, the cost of each part is very low.
③ Blow molding
The raw plastic is heated to a liquid, air is injected, and the plastic is blown into the mold to make it larger and pressed against the walls of the mold. After it has completely filled the mold it is allowed to cool so that it retains its shape. This method is used to produce products such as plastic bottles, barrels, boxes and even fuel tanks.
Advantages:
Fast production speed, suitable for batch and low-cost production.
④ Injection molding
Injection molding is very similar to extrusion, but it involves injecting molten plastic directly into a custom mold, filling the mold under high pressure and cooling it into shape. It is used to produce parts that are in high demand such as automotive parts, surgical parts.
Advantages:
High production efficiency and suitable for mass production.
Disadvantage:
(1) Molds can be expensive, but the unit cost drops significantly depending on the volume produced.
⑤ Rotational molding
The molten plastic is placed inside the mold, rotates at high speed to evenly cover the entire surface of the mold, forming all hollow parts with uniform wall thickness, and is removed after cooling. It is commonly used to make large and hollow parts including dumpsters, kayaks, and storage tanks.
Advantages:
(1) The molds it uses are highly complex, making the product customizable and variable, including special inserts and logos.
(2) The cost is lower than other methods such as injection molding and blow molding.
Main features of Plastic waste bin mould
① Suitable for mass production
The plastic injection molding process uses molds to form parts during production, without requiring manual operations or adjustments by employees. This will help optimize filling, molding speed and time, and ensure part quality and appearance.
② High precision
This process uses automated online CMM to ensure dimensional accuracy during the molding process. It can produce parts with uniform specifications in high volumes and maintain machining accuracy of approximately ±0.003 inches, with a range variation of 0.002 inches.
③ Rich colors
Ordinary plastic raw materials are usually black and natural colors (natural colors may be white, beige, amber or other colors). But customers can choose to add colorant particles to the material, creating custom colors and possibly stripes or swirls in the part.
④ High productivity
Its production efficiency is much higher than CNC machining or 3D printing. Generally, the cycle time to produce a batch of parts is 15 to 60 seconds. In addition, its multi-cavity molds (molds that can produce several plastic parts simultaneously) help increase production capabilities and can produce hundreds or thousands of identical parts per hour.
⑤ Wide compatibility
This process is compatible with almost all thermoplastic materials for production, including pp, pvc, pc and other materials. It can also be done by using additives such as fiberglass or mixing different particles together to increase the strength, corrosion resistance or temperature resistance of the injection molded part.
⑥ High surface finish
Manufacturers often use sandblasting treatment, with special ceramic beads and additives, to directly sandblast the plastic surface. This can completely eliminate water lines, flow lines, mold marks, etc. on the plastic surface, and at the same time obtain a soft, airy texture, even matte finish.
⑦ Lower costs
Manufacturers use mold forming to maintain uniform wall thickness on parts, preventing wall sinks and voids, cause thinner walls shorten cycle times and reduce costs. At the same time, a complete injection molding production line can automatically complete the injection material and cooling processes, reducing the manual operations and labor costs.
⑧ Optional capacity
These trash can injection molds are available in a variety of specifications, corresponding to different uses, including communities, commercial places, parks, etc. Its capacity ranges from 60L, 120L, 240L, and 360L barrels, and it supports customization.
What can ensure the process efficiency of Plastic waste bin mould?
① Design structure
Most injection molds are well designed and have complex machined parts on both the cavity side and core side inserts. This helps to produce irregularly shaped products while maintaining accuracy and avoiding pinching, scraping, etc.
② Cold runner system
The system includes gates, runners, gates and cavities with multiple independent cooling manifolds and large inlet/outlet connectors to control the temperature in each zone. It is best suited for handling products with complex designs, works with any plastic, and works best with heat-sensitive polymers.
③ Ejection system
The ejection system is used to eject molded parts from the mold and generally has a fixed connection. The system consists of an ejection piston, an ejection mechanism, an ejection air source and a control system. It is suitable for various containers, boxes, cylinders and thin parts with center holes. Our ejection systems are often designed in the form of ejection blocks to make ejection as simple as possible, facilitate processing and demoulding, and are easy to maintain.
④ Hydraulic clamping technology
This technology compresses rubber discs or other materials to generate greater force to lock the mold to avoid mold movement and damage. It has a constant pressure value and has the function of maintaining pressure for a long time, improving production accuracy and stability, reducing the chance of manual intervention and 90% of the mold change time.
⑤ Five-axis servo drive system
The system cooperates with software logic to provide a human-computer interaction interface that conforms to the characteristics of injection molding production processes. It allows touch operation instructions to be implemented to achieve various special actions such as arrangement, palletizing, and embedding, helping to speed up production efficiency.
The main Surface treatment we can offer
① Painting
We can spray a layer of paint on the surface of the injection molded trash can to protect the product, blocking corrosive media from the product, making it anti-corrosion, covering surface defects, and wear-resistant. The paint on the surface of these trash cans can also give them different colors for distribution in different areas
② Sandblasting
This technology uses high-speed spraying of small particles to treat the surface of plastic trash cans, making it uniform and rough. It can completely eliminate surface bonding and flow lines without coating on the surface of the trash can, and supports the selection of matte effects with varying thicknesses.
③ Thermal transfer printing
Thermal transfer printing refers to the use of the principle of thermal sublimation to transfer digital images onto the surface of treated trash cans, enhancing the aesthetics and labeling of products. This technology can create multi-color patterns in one go without the need for color matching, and print rich icons and corporate logos on the surface of the trash can.
④ Wire drawing
This technology can use a diamond knife to create a drawing effect on the surface of the trash can after processing it, and form long or short filamentous lines to increase the visual effect and hand texture.
