The locating ring of an injection mold is an important component in the injection mold, usually installed on the mold's fixed seat plate. It mainly serves the following functions:
Fit with the positioning holes of the injection molding machine：The main function of the positioning ring is to precisely fit with the positioning holes of the injection molding machine, thereby determining the accurate position of the mold on the injection molding machine. The positioning hole size of injection molding machines is fixed, but it varies among different models of injection molding machines. The outer diameter of the positioning ring has certain tolerance fit requirements with the inner diameter of the positioning hole of the injection molding machine. Generally, clearance fit is adopted to ensure that the positioning ring can be smoothly inserted into the positioning hole of the injection molding machine, while also ensuring positioning accuracy and accurately aligning the gate of the mold with the nozzle of the injection molding machine.
Ensure the installation accuracy of the mold: By cooperating with the positioning holes of the injection molding machine, the positioning ring can ensure that when the mold is installed on the injection molding machine, the center axis of the mold coincides with the center axes of the clamping mechanism, injection mechanism, etc. of the injection molding machine, thereby avoiding injection molding problems caused by mold installation deviations, such as gate offset and uneven plastic part formation.
Bear part of the mold weight: After the mold is installed on the injection molding machine, part of its weight will be transferred to the fixed template of the injection molding machine through the positioning ring. The positioning ring can bear a certain load, play a role in supporting the mold, reduce the force on components such as mold installation bolts, and improve the stability and reliability of mold installation.
Dispersed injection molding pressure: During the injection molding process, when the plastic melt is injected into the mold cavity, a certain pressure is generated, and this pressure is transmitted to the injection molding machine through the mold. The positioning ring can disperse these pressures to a certain extent, making the pressure evenly distributed on the fixed template of the injection molding machine and avoiding damage to the mold or injection molding machine components caused by excessive local pressure.
Preventing plastic melt leakage: The fit between the positioning ring and the positioning hole of the injection molding machine can play a certain sealing role, preventing the plastic melt from leaking from the connection between the mold and the injection molding machine during the injection molding process. When the nozzle of the injection molding machine is connected to the gate sleeve of the mold, the positioning ring can ensure the relative position accuracy between the two, making the seal more reliable and thus ensuring that the plastic melt can be smoothly injected into the mold cavity, improving the quality and efficiency of injection molding.
